Admissions for 9 tech colleges suspended by AICTE

The AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) has announced that 9 technical institutes in Ahmadabad will be prohibited from participating in the admission procedure and consequently, enrolling students in the academic session for 2013-14.
Strict action was taken by AICTE after engineering colleges and institutes offering courses in MBA (Master of Business Administration), pharmacy and MCA (Master of Computer Sciences) were found to have severely inadequate infrastructures that college authorities did not improve.
Sources from AICTE revealed that the council had carried out a surprise inspection in over 400 colleges across India out of which 350 institutes were found lacking in proper infrastructure. Out of these colleges, 100 institutes were found to be deficient in faculty and staff members, who form the basis for providing knowledge in any technical institute.
The 9 institutes included amongst colleges in the 100-severely deficient list, were notified by the AICTE to rectify the staff and infrastructure problems. However, when the same colleges could not comply with the notification, their right to admit students was cancelled.
The nine colleges comprises of 2 in Vadodara, 1 in Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Rajkot, Panchmahals, Bhavnagar each.
