Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore recently
concluded the summer placement process for PGDM batch 2012-2014. The
summer placements for the PGDM batch witnessed participation from 181
companies, with 108 first time recruiters. The process stood testimony
to the growing status of IIM Indore as one of the leading institutions
in the country for management education. Diverse roles across sectors
and domains were offered to a batch with varied interests.
The placement process was spread over a few weeks to ensure that
varies roles offered by a large pool companies could be made available
to the students. This year the sales and marketing domain topped in the
list with 40% of offers, followed by the finance sector 17%, consulting
and general management sector 25%, operations management and IT &
other 18%.

Sectoral Break Up:
Sales and Marketing:
Sales and Marketing was the flavour of the season with about the 40%
of offers being made in this domain. Regular FMCG recruiters included
HUL, Reckitt Benckiser, ITC, PepsiCo, Perfetti van melle, Britannia,
Dabur, Pidilite, Heinz, Marico, AT food, Emami, SabMiller amongst
others. IIm Indore confirmed its stature as one of the most sought after
campuses for Sale and Marketing domain as several non-FMCG firms such
as Airtel, Titan, Madura Garments, Sony Entertainment, Tata motors,
Lifestyle also recruiters in good numbers. First time recruiters such as
General mills, Philips, Dell, E-bay, Lee , Wrangler recruited for their
“Sales and Marketing” roles and extended high number of offers
appreciating the student quality and pedagogy at IIm Indore.
Finance:
Despite a gloomy global economic scenario, regular recruiters like
Deutsche Bank, JP Margon chase, Goldman sachs, HSBS, American Express,
Edelweiss, ICICI Bank recruiters in good numbers. New recruiters such as
GE (FMP), Development credit Bank, HDFC, Elara Capital and SEBI
selected students. Profiles were offered in corporate and Transaction
Banking, Investment Banking, Private equality, Asset management and
Corporate Finance. The season also witnessed the participation of
companies offering several niche profiles like Goldman Sachs
(Alternative Investments), Macquarie Bank (Infrastructure fund) etc. A
new private equality firms recruiters for the first time at IIm Indore
asserting the dominance of IIM Indore in the finance domain and the
diversity in the profiles being offered at campus. Overall, 17% of the
offers were made in the finance domain
Consulting and General Management:
Around 25% of the offers were made in the Consulting and General
Management domains. Recruiters in consulting included PwC, Redseer
Consulting, Avalon Consulting, Orkash Services, Cognizant Business
Consulting, Capgemini, Mindtree, TCS-Global Consulting and Wipro
Consulting.
Indian Conglomerates
including Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries Limited, Raymond
Group, RPG Group recruited for their General Management in good numbers.
Operations and IT:
Prominent recruiters offering operations profile included Amazon,
P&G, Citibank, TATA Steel, Filpkart, Reliance Infra, HPCL etc. GE,
Yahoo HUL, Wipro, Comviva, Sony India were some of the major recruiters
in the IT domains. 18% candidates were made offers in these domains.
Other Highlights:
The season witnessed offers being rolled out across diverse sectors
such as Advertising, Media and Entertainment (Sony entertainment, Zee
news, Bates, Drizzlin), E-commerce (Amazon, Flipkart, E-bay, Redbus),
Parama and Health care(Merck, Abbot,Boehringer-Ingelheim, GSK),
Infrastructure (Reliance infrastructure), Retail (Metro cash and Carry,
Lee, Wrangler)
This season also
saw participation of several global giants offering diverse profiles
like Michael Page International (HR Consulting), DuPont (Marketing
Leadership Development Program), Bosch (General Management) etc.
Internship Remuneration:
The average stipend offered to students for 2 months was about 50000.
The highest stipend offered was Rs. 1,70, 000 for a period of 2 months.
