The ISC,
Class XII board exam has been scheduled two weeks earlier than
indicated, and have both students and parents worried alike. Students
will now have to reschedule their study plan, as many schools’
preliminary examinations will end only by late January, 2013.
The general consensus from parents is that the examination dates
should have been declared well in advance by the Council for Indian
School Certificate(CISC).
Parents,
who have already scheduled timetables for their children, had
anticipated a month’s break between the pre-boards and the board exams,
giving their children enough time for preparation. However, this year,
the board exams will start by the mid-February, leaving children with
only 15 days to prepare.
The
announcement was released 3-4 days ago. These exams are regarded as a
crucial examination for students to qualify for the best colleges. Many
parents hold the view that this move is a disadvantage for the ISC
students and gives CBSE students an extra edge.
Students are now attempting to cope with this news. The regular
examination schedule that begins in March would have been more
preferable to students. The new time table will cut at least 15 days of
preparation time for ISC students. However, some students hold the view
that preparation for the pre-boards is similar to that of the board
exams.
Subjects hold a lot of
significance in terms of the exam schedule. In a few schools, the first
paper on environmental science on Thursday February 14, 2013, has not
been chosen by any of their students. In such schools, the exam will
start with the next paper from Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
