At a seminar in Ahmadabad on Tuesday,
December 4, 2012, AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education)
announced that the academic sessions of all professional, technical
classes will commence from August 1, 2013.
Sources from AICTE revealed that the Council has released a time table
under the guidelines of the Supreme Court, which the department of
state education has to follow and firmly adhere to from the next
academic session.
All the states
need to follow the time table with regards to enrollments in engineering
and other technical courses. Under the new time table, the states also
require permission for opening new institutes before April, 30.
Until now, college admissions were open till June-July, which
completely jeopardized the enrollment process. The first round of
enrollment has to be completed by June end, followed by the second round
on July 10 and the third and final round by July 20. The academic year
in all technical institutes has to commence on August 1, 2013.
These guidelines have been prepared under the SC directives; the
states disobeying the timetable will be served with a notice. The people
of Gujarat have welcomed the change in the process as admissions have
been known to drag on till the months of September, October and even
November.
The official also stated
that the university will not admit any student enrolled after July 30.
Moreover, the student will not be recognized by AICTE.
