Two new ITIs to be launched in Orissa

Orissa government is going to launch two new ITIs(Industrial Training Institutions)in Gajapati & Kandhamal districts and is also paining to increase the number of seats in ITIs at Berhampur and Chhatrapur in Ganjam from 2013. The government is taking these steps to boost technical education in southern Odisha.
The new polytechnics institutions will operate from Paralakhemundi in Gajapati and Phulbani in Kandhamal districts. Official sources say that sixty students each can take admission in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and telecommunication streams in each polytechnic course.
The construction of the new buildings for polytechnic institutes is likely to be completed by July, 2013. As per the in-charge of the polytechnic and ITI Phulbani Principal, the government is expected to appoint teachers in both the new institutes before the commencement of classes on Thursday, August 1, 2013.
In the meantime, the government has increased the number of seats in government-run ITIs in Berhampur and Chhatrapur districts in Ganjam by 340 and 378 respectively. The strength of the seats is doubled in each stream of fitter, electrical, welder and electronics in ITI Berhampur.
At ITI Chhatrapur the government opened three new trades, including instrumental, mechanics and welder and doubled the seats in the existing three disciplines of mechanics, electrical and electronics. As per the ITI Berhampur principal, the total strength has increased to 1,300 in ITI Berhampur and to 567 in ITI Chhatrapur.
He also added that the increased number of students will be provided with adequate infrastructure. The government has already provided instruments worth about Rs 80 lakh to the institutes. Two new buildings at an expenditure of Rs 65 lakh were set up on their premises.
