Applications have been invited by the
Indian Institute of Technology- Delhi’s Department of Management Studies
for the new certificate course in business management supported by its
continuing education program.
‘Minor Area’, a new scheme of specialization, has been introduced by
IIT-D for all engineering students. Any business management student on
completion of their 5 courses will be awarded a minor area
specialization. The new business management certificate course is
intended to teach the same courses and more through a modular flexinet
mode.
The course will include
subjects like management accounting and financial management, operations
management, organization and human resource management, information
systems management and creative problem solving.
Applicants should have completed their graduation, in any stream, from
a recognized Institute/University. Students who are in their final year
or third year of engineering, in any discipline, are also eligible to
apply. The program is also open for working executives.
The program will be executed in three phases. From January 7 to
January 12, starting from 9 am to 5 pm, will be the first phase, for
which the classes will be conducted at IIT-D campus.
The second phase will be a series of online classes from January 18 to
May 18, 2013 Friday to Saturday from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
The third and final phase will be conducted from June 10 to June 15,
2013 and will once again be regular classes at the IIT Delhi campus.
Out-station students will also be provided with the Hostel/Guest House
accommodation at the institute for first and third phase. The course
will also be available on a first-come-first serve basis at affordable
charges which will include all meals and lodging charges. Rs.300 per day
for Hosteland lodging charges RS.750 per day for Guest House and Rs.500
per day for USO House charges.
The classes consist of a mix of online and classroom sessions will be
conducted by a combination of guest faculty from various industries and
academic institutions and the IIT Delhi faculty. The course fee is
estimated to be Rs. 75,000/- payable by way of Demand Draft favouring
the ‘Registrar IIT Delhi’, at Delhi. Students are also allowed to pay by
cash.
The selection criteria will
involve work experience (if any), the applicants educational/academic
past,and a two hundred word essay on a topic supplied by the college
application form (For e.g. -‘What adjectives do you think would be most
frequently used to describe you by those who know you best? Briefly
explain’) references and purpose of study. Each component will affect
the student’s candidature.

Along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- drawn in favor of ‘Registrar IIT
Delhi’ the completed application form should reach ‘Ms. Sapna Bhardwaj,
C/o Dr. Harish Chaudhry, Room No. 508, Vishwakarma Bhawan, Shaheed Jeet
Singh Marg, IIT Delhi, New Delhi-110016’, before the last day on
submission, i.e. by December 15, 2012.

,which can be submitted through a Demand Draft for Rs. 500/- drawn in
favor of ‘Registrar IIT Delhi’ or in cash.
The decision regarding the selected candidates will be released by
Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Applicants can check if they have been
selected as the list will be posted at www.ifehe.com. A username and a
password will be allotted to each student to log into the online virtual
classroom platform www.wiziq.com. The students would be required to
possess a desktop/laptop for the online classes. Each student can view
the archived lecture classes anytime. Participants may submit all
assignments on a regular basis. Candidates will also be able to attend
all the classes online.
