University of Calcutta Invites Applications for Ph.D in Human Rights Program

Applications are invited by University of Calcutta, Kolkata for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program in Human Rights for the commencing session 2013.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Calcutta

• The university shall admit a Ph.D student through an entrance test. The students who have cleared UGC/CSIR (JRF) examinations/NET/SET/SLET/GATE/Teacher fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech/M.D/M.E/M.Pharm or equivalent examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D entrance test.
• In case of candidates holding a qualifying degree from other universities, admission for the Ph.D program will proceed after determination of equivalence by the relevant university body and fulfillment of the admission criteria.

How to Apply for University of Calcutta

• Candidates are requested to download the application form from the university website: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/index.html or collect the application form from the office of the department of Anthropology.
• Candidates should apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan obtainable in College Street Campus or in Ballygunge Campus (sales counter).

Selection procedure for University of Calcutta

• The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ examination to be held by the department on December 28, 2012 at 12 noon.
• The successful candidates will be called for an interview on January 01, 2013 at 12 noon.
• The final selection for joining the department as provisionary Ph.D student will be on the basis of this interview.
• Those candidates who have already passed NET/SET/SLET/GATE/Teacher fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil examination need not appear at the written examination and can directly appear at the interview.
