JEE Main aspirants can now take mock tests in January 2013

Now the candidates who are appearing for the Joint Entrance Exam (Main) in April 2013 will be able to take a computer-based mock test of the same commencing on January 2013.
Those taking up the exam next year have a great cause for relief – the main exam, which is being held for the first time, is a gateway to some of the most prestigious engineering colleges in the country.
Test takers were worried about the syllabus for the paper and the extent of class XI lessons featured in the paper. The mock exam is expected to clarify the pattern and syllabus to a greater extent.
AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) will be replaced by JEE (main) this year. It will also be the first stage for admission to the IIT’s (Indian Institutes of Technology). The candidates will have the option to appear for the online version or the pen-and-paper version of the exam. The registration for the JEE will close on Saturday, December 15.
More than 1.2 million students are expected to appear in the exam as per an official estimate. The test will have both online formats and pen-and-paper mode of conduction.
Centrally-funded engineering schools all together have 25,000 seats available with them; that will include around 9,700 seats from the 15 IITs. Beginning in the second week of January the mock test will be conducted for almost 3 months.
Aspirants will have more than 1 sample test made available to them. Students who will rank under the top 1, 50,000 will sit for the next exam held for the selection to IITs. The criterion also requires the candidate to finish in the top 20 percentile of their schools board exams.
This time, in January, students will be permitted to make changes to their application form, once. The permission will be granted after the ongoing registration process has ended by the mid-December.
The candidates can make the suitable corrections to their forms, through a window for the registered candidates, with regards to the city that the candidate would like to write the test in, a preference for a test centre etc.
