IP University (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University), Delhi
is setting up a new Institute of Design in the university’s east
campus. The newly set up institute will be Asia’s largest centre of
design. This was revealed by A.K. Walia, the minister of Higher
Education Delhi during the ninth convocation ceremony of the
university.
By launching the new
design institute, the university is reinstating the Public Private
Partnership (PPP) model, which is not working so well in other
countries. The University is also planning to open three new study
centers in the University - Center for Film, Center of Study of
Indigenous Literature and Centre for Development and Planning. The aim
of these three new centers will be to promote cognitive and non
cognitive skills as well as foster technical skills like accountancy,
tourism, IT, management and construction amongst others.
A total of 15,945 university students were honored with degree on the
event. 67 students were awarded with Gold Medals, while 15 students, who
have obtained more than 90%, were honored with plaque or citation for
their excellent performance in studies. Moreover, the university
conferred research scholars with a PhD degree to commemorate the
occasion.
