Indian Maritime University Invites Applications for B.Tech/M.Tech Programs

Applications are invited by Indian Maritime University (IMU), Uthandi for admission to residential four years Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Marine Engineering offered at School of Marine Engineering (SME) in Chennai and Kolkata, four years Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering, two years Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering and Dredging & Harbour Engineering offered at School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (SNA) in Vishakhapatnam for the academic year 2013-14.

Eligibility Criteria for IMU Uthandi:

• For B.Tech Program: Candidates with 10+2/equivalent (PCM-60% & English-50%) are eligible to apply.
• For M.Tech Program: Graduate engineering in Mechanical/Civil/Aeronautical/Marine/Naval Architecture or equivalent with 60% aggregate are eligible to apply.

How to Apply for IMU Uthandi:

• Candidate must read the detailed information brochure and instructions before filling up the application form.A candidate should minutely go through all the provisions for admission to ensure that he/she is eligible for admission for which he/she is applying in terms of requirements of age, educational qualification as on crucial date etc and fill the form strictly according to the instructions.
• On-line Application: Application is to be filled online by clicking official website. Payment can be made by  downloading the challan and paid at any of the branches specified by IMU (Challan details to be filled-in the application form).
• The application fee is Rs.1000/-for all candidates and Rs.700/-for SC/ST candidates. After filling in, the application print to be taken and hard copy with necessary enclosures to be forwarded to Admission Cell, Indian Maritime University, East Coast Road, Uthandi, Chennai-600119 on or before 10.05.2013.

Selection Procedure for IMU Uthandi:

• The selection of program will be done based on performance of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test (CET). The CET will be as below:
  • For B.Tech categorized under a single CET
  • Separate CET s M.Tech program
• Short listed candidates based on CET scores will be called for counseling/GD and/or PI
  • For all B.Tech program, counseling will include certificate verification and allotment of seats at campus/institutes after producing necessary physical fitness clearance.
  • For M.Tech programs, personal interview will take place at IMU Vizag.
