AICTE approval mandatory for maritime courses

AICTE (All-India Council for Technical Education) has declared that all maritime graduate and higher degree courses should be approved by both Director-General of Shipping and the AICTE.  Without AICTE’s approval, candidates will not be eligible for jobs and higher studies.

The decision came in the wake of argument that only DG-Shipping approval is required for MBA, BTech and other marine courses.
However, courses directly offered by the universities will be exempted.
