Applications are invited by National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK),Surathkal
for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programs in various
branches of Engineering, Science and Humanities & Social Sciences
and in various areas of specializations for the commencing session 2013.

Eligibility Criteria for NITK, Surathkal
- Admission to Ph.D program shall be open to candidates who passed the prescribed qualifying examination with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/ university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree program).

However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 6.0 or 55% marks
in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates. The prescribed qualifying
examination is as follows:
- For Ph.D in Engineering/Technology – Master’s degree in relevant field
- For Ph.D in Science/Humanities, Social Sciences & Management – Master’s degree in relevant field

How to Apply for NITK, Surathkal
- The prescribed application form and Information Bulletin can be downloaded from the institute website www.nitk.ac.in.
- The application form can be duly filled and sent to the Dy. Registrar (Academic), National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, Srinivasnagar, Mangalore - 575025, Karnataka State on or before the last date prescribed 03.12.2012 along with the D.D. of Rs. 500/- (for SC/ST- Rs.150/-) drawn in favor of the Director, N.I.T.K., Surathkal payable at State Bank of India, or Canara Bank, NITK, Campus Branch, Surathkal.

Selection procedure for NITK, Surathkal
Selection of candidates for admission to Ph.D program will be based
upon the academic performance in the qualifying examinations, written
aptitude test, presentation on a research topic and interview as
specified by the concerned departments.
