Two premier colleges, IIT-Gn (Gujarat-IIT Gandhinagar) and IIM-A (IIM Ahmadabad)
are offering Indian students an opportunity to learn and work with the
distinguished faculty members of the leading institutes. These faculty
members are renowned for their outstanding research.
IIT-Gn has started providing summer internships in research program to
35 fortunate students from different colleges. These students will work
closely with the IIT-Gn professor during their internship period.
Sources from IIT-Gn revealed that the institute used to send their
students overseas for internships. As a result, the college has now
decided to extend an opportunity to the students interested in research
to explore and utilize the outstanding laboratory at IIT-Gn and learn
from the excellent faculty. The students can also benefit industry and
campus internships.
The program
aims to assemble engineers and non engineers from the country’s top
institutes on the campus of IIT-Gn. The program will allow the interns
to take part in the on-going research works and undertake mentorship by
the IIT professor.
The selected
student will be provided with a stipend and lodging on the IIT-Gn
campus. The summer internship research program 2013 will be publicized
in January or February 2013, based on which the students interested in
the internship will have to name and contact a professor of the
institute whose research work interests them.
Similarly, CIIE (Centre For Innovation, Incubation & entrepreneurship)
at IIM-Ahmedabad will conduct test in offering different colleges
students a privilege to be supervised by IIM-A professor for rural
assignments. Six months internship will be provided to students from
reputed colleges mainly based in Ahmadabad. The interns will also have
an opportunity to meet venture capitalists and angel investors during
their internship.
As per a source
from IIT-A, the internship will aim to create inroads in areas of rural
India and develop partnerships with CIIE and public entrepreneurs.
